Aidenisms

OK so I think I am just gonna skip over half the year and act like I didn't even miss a beat on here. So unfortunately that probably means no Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Valentines day pics....sorry. Aiden has been cracking us up lately. Here are a few conversations we have had with him lately....

Aiden - Mommy can I sleep on your floor tonight.
Me - You need to ask daddy
Daddy - No not tonight, you need to sleep in your own bed since you have slept on our floor a lot lately.
Aiden - Um no
Daddy - Yes. I will make you a deal. How about every three nights you go without pottying your pants you get to sleep on our floor.
Aiden- Um no deal daddy no deal
Daddy - well OK then you just don't get to sleep on our floor at all.
Aiden - (pausing for a moment to really think about this one.) No deal daddy. How about I play you in candy land and when I beat you I get to sleep on your floor!

notice he said when I beat you not if I beat you but when. Sometimes his wittiness kills me! Todd so badly wanted to take the bet on principle and he was kind of proud that he took such confidence in his candy land skills that he was unbeatable but I had to remind Todd that Aiden usually kills us in candy land.

Next story
We had been out late at a ball game and then we went out to celebrate afterwards with the other coaches/family and Aiden had plenty to drink really late. (previous story plays in on this one) We got home really late and Aiden was of course asleep so we threw some jammies on in and let him sleep in our floor. It was around 2:30 am and Todd woke up and heard Aiden in the floor wrestling around. He preceded to ask him several times if he needed to go to the potty. Aiden didn't respond but now I was awake and Todd decided the he himself needed to use the restroom. I can see Aiden in the shadows at this point and can see his is up. So now I start asking him if he needs to potty with no response from him. So I turn on my lamp to see him standing up on his mattress on our floor with his pants pulled down to his knees and spreading the "love" all over his blankets. I am a little shocked and don't really know what to do. It was a rather long love spell and I knew moving him would do me no good. I still couldn't get him to respond to me. Poor little guy was asleep and had no idea what he did. The next morning when I asked him about it he had no clue!

Today Aiden stayed home from school because he has been running fever for the past few days. This afternoon he had been fever free with no drugs for a while so I needed to go to walmart and he was getting a little tired of being in the house so off we went. However, he wanted to go to walmart as GI Joe. OK, OK fine with me. He has on all of his army gear, his boots, his helmet, and is holding his Nerf automatic tommy gun with "bullets" in his pockets. I looked at him and said so are you taking the gun to walmart in hopes he would make the right decision and I was pleasantly surprised when he replied, "No mom I cant take the gun to walmart. People might think its real and then think I am a bad guy and be scared." like I was so dumb for asking the question. He was a little concerned while we were walking into the store that people would think he was a real soldier and so he needed to say Go Joe as we passed everyone in the store! Yes I got some laughs and some crazy mother looks from people but he is four and letting him got to walmart as GI Joe was a little fun for me as well.

OU gameday

This year OU's football theme is Year of the Fan. and is my dad a fan or what!!! He was one of 6 selected from thousands of memories of years past submitted and honored at one of the home football games. The game he was honored at was the OU vs Air Force game. So of course this was a huge deal in our family. My dad has had season tickets since 1972 or something pretty close to that. He has really great seats and there is no better atmosphere than where he sits. We got really lucky that since he was being honored on the field he had to sit else where so we got his seats. We decided this was the perfect time to take Aiden to his very first OU football game. I can remember being around his age and going to the games. So this was very neat for me to get to take my little boy to experience! We sit two rows up from the field on about the 13 yard line! Its amazing to see all the action right there in front of you. You can see the team right there, we generally always see someone from ESPN or Fox Southwest. The cheerleaders and Pom girls are right there and seeing the Pride of Oklahoma Band that close is really cool. My dad has several seats and he doesn't need all 8 seats so he always sells a few pairs. For the past couple of years he has sold a pair to a couple who has had two daughters on the pom squad. Aiden was mesmerized by these girls. The parents of the girls said they would get a few of them to come and take a picture with him and you will see below he was in love!!!!! Aiden had a great time! He got popcorn, a funnel cake, his picture with pretty girls, and a girl even came over and gave him one of the shot gun shells they shoot off when OU scores! He loved loved loved the fly overs by the F16s and even got to see a jet up close due to Air Force having one set up. I thought he would do pretty well as long as I had the ipod to entertain him but he honestly didn't really even need it! It was a pretty amazing memory that I got to make with my little boy!
and so it begins!

training him up right!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-U!

His shot gun shell!!!! and sorry for the small pics not really sure what happened here.

so cool for us to get to see my dad honored on the field! and how cool it was for him to get to meet members of the 74-75 national championship team!

one tired little guy!!! He had a full day and we parked at the lloyd Noble center so he didnt really stand a chance!

update

I haven't felt like blogging much lately. I have so much I could blog about and post pictures but there is also a lot going on. So I will just post a few things that have happened lately...

Aiden is loving school. He has a wonderful teacher and is going to a really great elementary. He loves his new found freedom from his mommy and enjoys not having to tell me everything about his day including what he ate for lunch and if and when he "went" to the bathroom. This is hard for me as his mommy. From the day he was born until now I have pretty much known everything he has done. When they are babies you keep track of everything and then when he went to sitters I knew exactly what his day was going to be like and even now at Shelly's even if he doesn't want to tell me something Shelly will on a daily basis. So now his response to me when I ask him about school is "I don't want to tell you" and at first this concerned me. Did he not want to tell me because he was in trouble at school but after the first week of this I figured if he really was in trouble his teacher would be calling me. Once I get an update from her or get to see his work he is doing in class that seems to help him start talking about it with me. He has also visited the "sorry chair" twice so far. His teacher assures me that when he has been in the sorry chair it wasn't for very long and it was for simple matters that she has to instill the correct behaviors in them now on the proper way to go to school and I am thankful for that. She is exactly what Mr. Aiden needs! Someone to lay the law down and get it pounded in him correctly from the very start. I am so thankful for Mrs. McGloughlin.

Aiden is also really pushing the limits right now. He is in that phase where he wants to see just how far you will let him go. You know you hear all the time that children want and need discipline and are practically begging for it and I totally see that right now in him. We are really working on trying to be ourself and not what someone else thinks we should be. We are learning that knowing right from wrong and actually doing right from wrong are two completely different things. He is learning that fibbing to your parents is in no way a good thing. He has also learned that when you lie to your parents you are lying to God and we must ask Him for forgiveness.

But on the flip side of all the hard lessons he is learning he is also learning so many wonderful things. He knows how to spell a good handful of words. He can write his own name, Mom, and Dad. He recognizes all of his letters and the sounds they make (thank you letter factory!) He used eventually in a sentence the other day and actually used it correctly in the sentence! He is learning to write letters! He is learning how to color a picture and stay in the lines! Among all those great school things he is learning he now also knows how to work his dvd player and remote. He knows how to work our remote, how to pause, play, rewind and fast forward to get what he wants. He also knows how to watch episodes of the old transformer animated shows on you tube and how to start another one after one ends. He is getting very good at riding his bike and scooter! I am pretty sure we are finally completely out of his night time diaper! This time of trying was his idea and that to me means it will stick! He is absolutely obsessed with going out on a boat. He loves it and asks us nearly everyday when we are getting one and tells us we can pay for it with money from the money bank. He even told us he would give us his money!

Wow well what was going to be a short post turned into a mini Aiden update. I love that baby so much that he is worth taking up an entire post! Isn't that what this blog is intended for.....

Happy Anniversary

I am pretty sure my anniversary posts say the same thing year after year. How much I love and adore my husband and that's ok because that is how it is supposed to be. But I can honestly say that this year because of everything we are going through I have fallen even more in love with him. He is such an amazing husband and father. I am so thankful for him. I don't know what it is but lately I have just stopped and watched him, how he is with Aiden, and how he looks at me, and how he wants to do everything he can for our family and I am amazed at him. Sure we have our hard times and our fights but there isn't a man who I adore more than him. I love him more now than I ever have. There is no other hand that I would rather hold than his! I love you Todd Anderson! You are the love of my life (well and Aiden too)! Thanks for an amazing 8 years! How blessed we are and I cant wait to see where our life leads us!

A trip to the lake

Our Sunday School class had a over night fellowship at Skiatook lake. We grilled burgers and let the kids play! We were right next to the playground so the kids loved that, the big boys played horse shoes and other games. Us girls do what we do best, TALK! Todd and Aiden stayed but I came home and went back the next morning for more fun. We went down to the swim area and my goodness that lake water was freezing. Jill made us all do it! She is crazy fun like that! It was such a good time for all the kids! We all had so much fun and I love being apart of such a great class!

they had so much fun dumping all that sand on me. Parker wanted to completely bury me but I just couldn't do it!
I decided to be a good sport and let them bury me! Man I had so much sand in places I didn't even know I had!

sweet Chandler! Love that chubby little guy!Hunter Jack was ready to get in that water!

All the kiddos loved playing in the tents. They thought nothing could get much better than that!

What how did my baby turn 4!!!!

Aiden's birthday party was so much fun. It was hot but it had a nice breeze. Since we did it on a week night there was no one there and they could pretty much ride without waiting in lines! The boys thought they were really something with all of them there together. Aiden got some really cool gifts (thank you cards to come I promise) enjoyed having a really good cake that someone very special to him made (thanks Auntie M) and thought he was something big since he is FOUR now! Happy Birthday to my sweet boy whom I love so much! You make mommy's world! I couldn't imagine my life without you! I love your precious smile. How you can con pretty much any one out of anything! How you can be so sweet and loving, and then how you can be a rowdy boy two seconds later! There is no doubt you are all boy or your mothers child with your charm. I am so thankful that we have some amazing family and friends and I hope they stay that way for life! Cant wait to see what four years old has in store for us baby boy!

Fireman Aiden

My step mom was so upset (as was I) that the shift that was on at the Bartlesville fire department wouldn't come out to his birthday party after the other shift had agreed to do it but since having to move the party to the next night due to rain it wasn't the same shift. I even had the fire chief call and try to get him to ask the lead fireman to do him a favor and he wouldn't budge. I was heartbroken but like any four year old he didn't seem to mind when he had all his buddies there to ride all the rides with him. But lucky for us my cousin is a fireman at a station in Tulsa. My step mom arranged for us to go out to his fire house and not only get a private tour of the station but for the boys to actually get to ride in the fire truck! OMgoodness Aiden was fired up! Before we left the house to go he made me promise to not forget his fire hat, jacket and boots. He did not care that it was 100 degrees out and that it would be burning out in a sleeveless outfit much less boots a jacket and a helmet! But the heat didn't stop him from wearing it the entire 45 minutes we were in the heat! I am so glad that he got to do this! This was such a fun thing for all of us to get to do as a family!
Poor Brady boy was afraid they were going to sound the sirens and it would hurt his ears. But I think he had a fun time!
The firemen were so nice to put on all their gear in the 100 degree heat that day and pose for a picture. They said that since Aiden had all his gear on they could bear the heat for a few minutes to make his day! and make his day it did!

this one is my favorite!
A big thanks to my cousin Josh for making this happen. Aiden loved every second of it!

Love my little fireman!
